Officials from the Golden Phoenix disaster response training exercise, being held Monday through Thursday in San Diego, will deploy the gamma radiation detection network technologies from Connecticut-based Defentect, a business unit of Splinternet Holdings.

The Golden Phoenix terrorism training is an initiative through the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Marine Corps Aircraft Group-46 and San Diego security authorities to test emergency response readiness.

The Defentect technology offers an Internet-managed dirty-bomb detection that sends alerts to cell phones, pagers and other mobile devices in the event radiation is picked up by the network's sensors.

"We're honored to be asked to participate in this prestigious event," James Ackerly, Splinternet chief executive officer, said in a statement.
